Using OpenX with the Banners component

If you look to the right of this page then you will see some small, unobtrusive square banners (unless you're using Adblock Plus). These banners were placed with the aid of the com_banners component and the mod_banners module. These two extensions work great for this purpose but when it comes to counting how many impressions and clicks a banner has received, it's a whole different story.

If, like me, you work on many different sites at once, then you will probably have noticed a strange feature of the Joomla administrator login. If your administrator session has timed out and you click on a link to a component or something else then you will be redirected to the login page. The annoying thing is that after you have logged in you are returned to the main index page. I know this is a small issue but it's one that annoys me! It just means clicking on the link again or hitting back in the browser but neither of these should be necessary.

Installing multiple extensions at once

When setting up a Joomla site you will often find yourself installing the same extensions over and over again. These may be CCKs like K2 and FlexiContent or simple plugins that add essential features to your site like the Google Analytics tracking tags. Whatever the purpose of the extension you can be guaranteed that you are going to be installing it each time you set up a site, as it has probably become an essential part of your Joomla kit.

Keeping people on your site

When people visit your site they should have a reason to stick around for a while. How long they stay will probably be based on the content or the service that your site offers. However, other factors can also influence a users decision to leave and one of these is the way they are redirected to outgoing links.

Introductory Note

Welcome to forgetso.com.  My name is Chris Taylor and this is my personal site that I have set up for the purpose of distributing the Joomla extensions that I develop.  If you are a keen user of Joomla you may be aware of other extensions that I have worked on, namely the Content Uploader and Joomailer.
